We live in the most connected era in human history. Yet across Africa, thousands of children growing up in orphanages remain almost entirely locked out of it, not by choice, but by circumstance. The world will expect them to compete in a digital economy. But how do you compete in a race you were never given the chance to prepare for?
The Africa Luwezo Initiative exists to close that gap by placing fully equipped computer labs inside orphanages, making technology part of everyday life for children who need it most.
The first chapter of Luwezo was written at Mogra Children’s Home in Nairobi, Kenya, on 24th April 2026. A fully equipped computer lab with 20 workstations loaded with educational content, giving every child in the home a seat at the table of the digital world.
Greydale Africa has committed to building one lab every year. The lab is our commitment. But a lab only matters if it stays running, keeps growing, and opens real doors for the young people inside it.
That’s where you come in.
We are looking for individuals and organisations who want to walk with us, not just with resources, but with skills, time, networks, and commitment. Here are the ways you can be part of this.
We believe that when young people are given the right tools, they don’t need anyone to tell their story. They write it themselves.
Ways You Can Participate
Donate Equipment & Technology
If your company regularly retires desktops, monitors, or keyboards, those devices can have a second life in a Luwezo lab. Rather than letting them gather dust or go to waste, channel them to us. If you are a software company, consider providing licenses for educational tools. If you are an internet service provider, you can sponsor the connectivity that keeps a lab online. We will work with you to make the process simple and the impact traceable.
Share Your Skills & Time
If you can teach coding, digital literacy, graphic design, IT maintenance, or any technology related skill, we want to hear from you. You can volunteer as an instructor at a lab and work directly with the young people who use it every day. If you are on a gap year or sabbatical and want to do something meaningful with your time, we offer structured placements where you can embed with the programme for weeks or months. Your knowledge is one of the most valuable things you can give.
Open Your Doors for Internships
The young people in our labs are building real, marketable skills. What they need next is a chance to apply them. If your organisation can offer an internship placement in IT support, software development, content creation, data entry, design, or any digitally driven role, you give a young person the bridge from learning to earning. This is not charity. It is early access to motivated talent with hands on experience. Join us as a Luwezo Internship Partner and help us make this pathway repeatable for every young person who comes through the programme.
Partner as a Company

If you are looking for a meaningful way to anchor your CSR strategy, consider integrating Luwezo into it. You could set up an employee matching gift programme, organise team volunteer days to help set up or maintain a lab, or adopt a lab entirely, taking ongoing responsibility for keeping one site equipped, connected, and supported. When your employees see the direct impact of their involvement, your partnership becomes more than a line item. It becomes a story your team is proud to tell.
Engage as an Institution or Foundation
If you are an NGO, foundation, or development agency, you can play a critical role in making the Luwezo Initiative sustainable. The labs we build need full time trainers, support staff, and the operational infrastructure to run effectively. Your support can fund the administrative backbone that keeps the programme alive and growing.
Here is what a foundation partnership could look like:
· Programme scaling. Help us expand the initiative to more orphanages by funding the systems, processes, and coordination needed to replicate what works.
· Trainer and staff compensation. Fund the salaries of dedicated trainers and support staff attached to each lab, ensuring young people receive consistent, quality instruction.
· Impact documentation. Provide the resources to properly measure, document, and publish the programme’s outcomes, which in turn helps attract further support and validates the model.
· Co-implementation. Provide local infrastructure while we provide the programme design, creating a partnership where each side contributes what it does best.
If you believe in scalable, evidence-based programmes for vulnerable children, Luwezo is a model worth investing in.
Spread the Word
Not every contribution is material. Some of the most powerful support is simply making sure the right people hear about what we are doing. Share our stories on your platforms. Introduce us to decision makers in your network. Become a Luwezo Ambassador in your professional community. When you lend us your voice, you multiply everything else we do.
Offer Your Professional Services
If you are a marketer, designer, photographer, videographer, or content creator, your craft can directly accelerate this initiative. Help us build Luwezo’s brand, tell our story, create campaigns, or produce content that moves people to act. These are real costs we would otherwise bear, and when you contribute them, you free up resources that go straight into the labs.
Every lab we build is a promise. Every partner who joins helps us keep it.
